GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
In the Republic of Panama, immigration rules are constantly changing, currently the National Immigration Service of Panama requires:
All applications for a permanent residence permit must be made through a Panamanian Lawyer.
In general, there is no minimum or maximum age requirement for applying for any residence permit, with the exception of the legal minimum age of 18 years. Young people under the age of 18 may qualify for a visa as dependents of their parents or guardians.
Children over 18 years of age and under 25 years of age may be requested as dependents, provided that they study regularly and are under the economic dependence of the permanent or national resident. The resident or national who proves to have the care and upbringing of a minor person may request it as a dependent.
All documents that the foreigner is to present to the Panamanian authorities must be authenticated by a notary and by a Panamanian Consulate or with the Apostille. The Apostille (The Hague Convention of 1961) is a faster form of document authentication and is normally obtained through the Secretary of State in your State of origin (in the US) or by the Foreign Office ( in the United Kingdom). Not available in Canada.
All documents must be recent (within 3 months of visa application) and passports must be at least 1 year old.
